A crocodile-infested thriller starring Australia’s Luke Mitchell and Jessica McNamee is the latest blockbuster to call Queensland home. Black Water Abyss, sequel to the 2017 surivial thriller Black Water begins filming in Brisbane today – and it’s using real crocodiles.
Director Andrew Traucki and producer Michael Robertson have reunited for the sequel, which has been sold globally to more than 30 territories. Black water Abyss follows adventurers Eric (Mitchell) and Jennifer (McNAmee), who convince their friends abseil into a cave system in northern Austrailia. As a storm approaches, the cave begins to flood and they find themselves stalked by a pack of hungry crocodiles.
It’s the first Australian project for Gold Coast born Mitchell since he left Home and Away for the US.
“I’m obviously ecstatic to be able to come back home to shoot this movie … and to get to work in Queensland not too far from where I grew up, it’s extra special,” he said.
